Rain, but Tamil Union in Premier final

Tamil Union qualified to play in the Premier division one knock out limited overs cricket tournament final despite their semifinal against Galle CC ending in a no decision due to rain at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

Tamil Union qualified as they had recorded more victories than their opponents Galle CC during the preliminary round of the tournament.

Only 14 overs were possible in the semifinal with Galle CC reaching 61 for 1 after winning the toss and batting before heavy rain forced the players return back to the pavilion at 3.25 p.m.

Colts on first innings

Ranesh Perera took a match bag of eight wickets as Colts CC defeated Kalutara PCC on the first innings in their division two cricket tournament match concluded at Havelock Park yesterday.

Kalutara PCC: 113 and 273 (S. Lakruwan 28, N. Roshan 78, S. Dushantha 68, R. Perera 4 for 96, T. Pathiratne 3 for 28)

Colts CC: 165 and 54 for 1.
