Colombian boxer dies PANAMA CITY, Wednesday, Colombian bantamweight boxer Carlos Meza died on Tuesday four days after falling into a coma after being knocked out in a fight in Panama. A doctor at the Santo Tomas hospital in Panama City where he had been taken to following the fight announced he had died. The 26-year-old, with a professional record of 21 wins in 25 fights, was knocked out on Saturday during a bout with Ricardo Cordoba of Panama. The Colombian, who suffered cerebral bleeding and underwent an operation Sunday to reduce blood coagulation and swelling of the brain, had earlier been pronounced "brain dead." |
