Seven for ASEAN junior sailing c'ship

Leaving for Myanmar this Saturday to participate in the Asean junior (optimist class) sailing championship, will be seven youngsters from Sri Lanka under the age of 16.

The Sri Lanka team will be taking part in the races, that will be held from the 12th - 20th December and will pit their sailing might against countries Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Shajah and Pakistan.

Sailing has taken hold of the young to be increasingly popular, with around 20 juniors actively involved in the sport and are sailing regularly at the Ceylon Motor Yacht Club, which has become their familiar domain. The team that's making the trip to Mynamar comprises;

Akshan Jirasinha - (STC: Prep;)
Oshan Weerasinghe - (Royal College)
Viren Dias - (Colombo Int'l School)
Ishan Abeysekera - (STC: Prep;)
Devin Goonewardene - (Stanford Int'l School)
Sacha Guneratne - (STC: Prep;)
Radhika Jirasinha - (Ladies College)

The Sri Lanka junior sailors are being partly sponsored by E-Wis and is managed by Lalin Jirasinha. The team returns to the Island on the 21st of December.
