SLCDE XI a massive 379/6

'SLC Development Emerging Team Posts Formidable (379 for 6 wickets) declared in 'Sharjah'

The Sri Lankan 'Batsmen' thrashed the 'UAE' bowling attack on a slow and low bounce Pitch on the first day of the three day match played at the 'Sharjah International Cricket Stadium' in the 'United Arab Emirates'.

The 'Development Emerging Team' scored a massive 379 for 6 wickets declared in the allocated (90) overs at the end of the first days play. With the ball not coming on to the bat due to the lack of pace in the pitch, the batsmen found run making difficult in the early part of the innings. However with some patient batting by the top order and middle order batsmen paved the way to accelerate the scoring rate in the last session of the day by rattling up (179) runs in the last session of the day.

Gihan De Silva, who started off his innings cautiously, was in a very aggressive mood towards the latter stage of his innings to help 'SLC' maintain a healthy run rate of (4.2) at the end of the innings.

The openers Harsha Vithana and Amila Sadaruwan gave 'SLC' a solid opening stand for the first wicket of (63) runs. Defiant knocks by Harsha Vithana (55- 4x7 ), Kanchana Gunawardne (62), Jeremy Saravanamuttupule (75- 4x10), Gihan De Silva (82 not out- 4x4- 6x4) impressed with the bat.
