Maheswaran in the Parliament, Leader of the House and River Basin Development and Rajarata Development Minister Maitripala Sirisena said yesterday. Addressing press conference at the parliament complex yesterday he said for the first time in the history of the Parliament Maheswaran has thrown a glass and a saucer towards the mace and the Speaker's chair on Tuesday. He said the same MP has created an chaotic situation in Parliament by running away with the mace causing injuries to the Arachchi of the Parliament. Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle said Maheswaran was trying to get the sympathy of the LTTE by acting in this manner and added that UNP MPs did not support his act but only the TNA MPs supported the conduct of Maheswaran. Minister Fernandopulle said there was no provocation by the Government side to compel Maheswaran to act the way he did though certain media tried to portray these happenings as coming under provocation of the Government. He said the Government has raised a previledge matter against the conduct of UNP MP Maheswaran and the Speaker should take a decision regarding this. |
