Ratnam's win not sufficient to oust Blue Star from top by Bernard Perera Ratnam SC who occupies the second position in the Kit Premier League Soccer Championship though they registered a good win over Renown SC three goals to one. Blue Star Sports Club from Kalutara still holds onto the top place with a total of 51 points. Second placed Ratnam SC is two points behind after last weekends match win with 49 points. Police SC which beat Kandy York SC two goals to one at CR & FC ground managed to move ahead of Matara SC to ninth slot. This was the only change that occurred during the last weekend. Police SC in another game during mid week drew with Air Force and collected a point to make their total 30 points from 23 games. Ratnam SC too have completed 23 games so far in this championship while top placed Blue Star SC have played only 22 matches from which they have a total of 51 points. Blue Star SC has all the chances of retaining the championship trophy for another year. Army outplayed Matara SC three goals to two. This victory did not help them to move ahead and stays at the fifth position. Navy playing against New Youngs SC managed to register their fifth victory from 24 games. They move a step forward to occupy the 12th position which was held by Java Lane SC from Slave Island. Meanwhile the Army SC - Police clash at Katunayake ended in a two all draw and both teams added a point each to their totals. |
