Tour de Lanka 2004 : Big cash awards on offer to winners by Chris Dhambarage Attractive cash awards are on offer to the winners and runners up of the Tour de Lanka cycle race which will be worked off in five different stages from December 7 to 12. The overall winner of this year's Tour de Lanka will receive a cash award of Rs. one hundred thousand plus a trophy and a certificate. The runner up in the racing class event will receive a cash award of Rs. 75,000 and a certificate. The third placed competitor will receive Rs. 50,000, fourth place Rs. 40,000, fifth place Rs. 30,000, sixth place Rs. 25,000, seventh place Rs. 20,000, eighth place Rs. 20,000, ninth place Rs. 12.000 and the tenth place Rs. 10,000. In addition the riders who finish between the eleventh and the fifteenth place will receive a cash award of Rs. 5000 each and the competitors who finish between the sixteenth and the 25th place will receive a cash award of Rs. 3000 each. Meanwhile the winner of each stage will receive a cash award of 10,000 and the runner up Rs. 7500. The third placed competitor of each stage will receive Rs. 5000, fourth place Rs. 3000, fifth place Rs. 2000 and the sixth place Rs. 1000. In addition special cash awards will be presented to the sprint events and for the hill climbing events. The winner of the women's standard race will receive a cash award of Rs. 20,000, the runner up will receive a cash award of Rs. 15,000 and the third place will receive Rs. 10,000. |
