Rs. 1 m cash reward to nab judge's killers

The Police Department is offering a cash reward of Rs. 1 million for any information leading to the arrest of suspects in the killing of High Court Judge Sarath Ambepitiya and Inspector R. A. Upali.

All information will be kept strictly confidential. The information can be provided to 011-2421111 - Police Headquarters, 011-2685151, 2662330, 2662322 - Colombo Crimes Division, 011 - 2662323 - Director/ Colombo Crimes Division, 011-2854880/ 2854885 - Duty Officer of the IG' Command Room and 119 - Police Emergency Service, the Police Headquarters said in a release yesterday.

Judge Ambepitiya and IP Upali attached to the MSD were assassinated on November 19 at about 3.30 p.m. at Sarana Road, Colombo 7 by four gunmen who came in a van bearing No. 253-0882.

The van was found abandoned opposite the RMV's office, Elvitigala Mawatha, Narahenpita the same day at about 5.30 p.m.
