British trade delegation keen to forge links with Lanka A wide variety of products and services will be promoted by delegates of 18 British companies visiting Sri Lanka on a trade mission from November 29 to December 3, a press release from the British High Commission said. The mission is organised by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the backing of UK Trade and Investment, the government body responsible for promoting exports from and inward investment into the United Kingdom. Mission Manager Claire Paye, Head of World Trade for London Chamber, said: "Sri Lanka is at a very exciting time in its development. The potential for peace brings with it the prospect of international investment in the country, and the development of the necessary infrastructure to enable the country to advance commercially. "The UK is the largest European investor in Sri Lanka, and has a long history of good trading links," Claire said. "The London Chamber trade mission members are keen to forge links with Sri Lankan companies to help them develop their own business interests. "The London Chamber itself is looking forward to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka during the visit." The mission participants have a range of objectives including looking for local representations and qualified distributors or agents. Some will be researching the market for the first time. Others will be building on existing contacts and will be looking to make new contacts. The delegates will stay at the Colombo Plaza Hotel during their stay. |
