Quick Tea wins three national business excellence awards

Quick Tea (Pvt) Ltd, a member of the Akabar Brothers Group of Companies won three Business Excellence Awards for 2004 at a ceremony held by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka at the Colombo Hilton on Friday. Finance Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama, was the Chief Guest.

The Company was ranked first in the Medium Sector and second in the Manufacturing Sector. The Overall Winners Bronze Award was also won by the Company. More than 100 business firms competed for the awards presented by the National Chamber of Commerce.

The Company specialises in the manufacturing of teabags for the export market. Since acquiring the teabag factory of Unilevers in the year 2003, the Company has moved in the direction of further investing in capacity-building and technological developments.

String and Tag type teabags, Pot type teabags, Envelope type teabags and Alu-Foil teabags are some of the teabags manufactured by the Company. The Company also recently introduced Pyramid type teabags for the bagging of Large Lead teas.
