Foreign investors net buyers

The All Share Price Index (ASPI) moved down by 9.4 points to close at 1519.3 points while the Milanka Price Index (MPI) moved down by 14.3 points at 2,168.4 points.

A total of Rs. 239.6 million turnover was recorded. The Beverages Food and Tobacco sector accounted for 34% of the total turnover.

A total of 2,287 trades was concluded with a share volume of nine million shares being traded. Banks Finance and Insurance and Telecommunications sectors accounted for 34% of the total volume traded.

Foreign investors were net buyers with purchases of Rs. 71.6 million and sales of Rs. 70.6 million.

Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, Construction and Engineering, Motors and Oil Palm sectors recorded gains while Health Care, Hotels and Travels, Plantations and Trading sectors were the main losers.

Morisons, Eagle Insurance, Hotel Sigiriya, Radiant Gems and LOLC were the top gainers.
