SLIM Brand Excellence 2004 awards The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) recently said that the 'SLIM Brand Excellence 2004' awards would take place for the third year on December 12 at the Trans Asia Hotel. The awards represent an ultimate challenge to brand marketers to prove that their brand made an indelible mark on the consumers mindset by appealing to consumers and thereby beating the competition and succeeding in the marketplace. It is now the single most important award event for brand custodians to measure excellence in marketing effectiveness. Local and international brands that are currently marketed in Sri Lanka are allowed to enter as well as Sri Lankan brands that are marketed internationally. The brands have the opportunity of competing under the product or service categories and in any one of the other special categories. The main awards for this event are Product Brand of the Year Award and Service Brand of the Year, with the higher scoring from these two winners, being awarded the Brand of the Year. Among the other awards are the Innovative Brand of the Year awarded to the brand shoving exceptional innovations, and Turnaround Brand of the Year for a brand that has turned around an adverse performance, downturn or crisis situation and come out favourably. There is also an award for the Local Brand of the year to recognise a true Sri Lankan Brand that has been developed and marketed locally and made its mark. The International Brand of the Year will be awarded to a home-grown brand that has made headway in the international arena. New brands that have been in the market for only two years or less have a chance of being recognised as the Best New Entrant of the Year Award. The performance of the brands will be evaluated against three broad criteria - namely, Brand strategies and performance, Market Performance and Financial Performance. The awards are judged on written submissions followed by a verbal presentation for the short listed entries. The winners can be justifiably proud of having competed in a tough test such as this where performance is judged on proven results and documented evidence. The panel of judges who will evaluate the entries will be eminent professionals from local and multinational companies at CEO and Marketing Director level. The deadline for submission of entries is November 10. This year's panel of judges consists of Nimal Gunewardena, Otara Chandiram, Ranjan de Silva, Prasanna Perera, Manilal Fernando, Ravi Liyanage and Alastair de Raadt. (CK) |
