Top French delegation to improve Lankan roads by Sudarshana Perera A top level delegation from the Road Consultancy firm "BCEOM" and construction firm "Scetauroute" in France is now in Sri Lanka to meet officials of the Road Development Authority and others in the road construction sector. The delegation will address a major seminar on "Road Construction in Emerging Countries- The Challenge Ahead" which would allow to transfer French knowledge and experiences on developing roads in Sri Lanka. UbiFrance in partnership with the Association of Franco-Ceylonese Technologists will organise the seminar. Economic Commissioner of the French Trade Commission in Sri Lanka, Hubert Colaris said that the road construction and consultancy firm in France have taken a keen interest in helping Sri Lanka to develop its road network and they would provide knowledge and expertise needed to expedite the construction of highways and other minor roads. "Their visit to Sri Lanka and the seminar would greatly benefit the Sri Lanka Road Development Authority and emphasis would also be made on the Colombo Katunayake Hihgway, Colombo-Matara Expressway and Kandy-Colombo Highway", Colaris said. Deputy Commissioner of the French Trade Commission in Sri Lanka, Hilary Weerasinghe said that their visit would allow us to accrue overseas dimension to our road construction sector and ways of designing feasibility studies. BCEOM contributes successfully to the rise of a more harmonious world on the five continents. Its strategy is organised around the engineering of the development to international and the engineering of water and the environment in France. |
