Dankotuwa Porcelain expands into Indian markets Dankotuwa Porcelain Ltd (DPL), Sri Lanka's premier manufacturer and exporter of porcelain tableware recently expanded its worldwide operations, with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art showroom at the popular Spencer Plaza in Chennai, India. This follows the establishment of a new DPL branch office in South India which overlooks the retail distribution operation of its two key brands - Dankotuwa and Laklain, in Chennai. DPL Chairman Sunil G. Wijesinha said that since the showroom's inauguration, sales in Chennai were "a roaring success with customers coming from as far as Bombay, Hyderabad, Cochin, New Delhi and Goa. Our products have been moving very fast since the launch, and have most often outrun the supply from Sri Lanka. Wijesinha said DPL was now supplying over 450 retailers in the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Karnakata, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. "This fast expanding market is very encouraging and I am confident of Sri Lanka's Dankotuwa products soon being a household name in India", Wijesinha said. The newly opened showroom will initially market the company's Dankotuwa brand, with its gold and platinum designs of the finest craftsmanship, giving the brand an edge over other tableware. The products are 100% free from animal bone ash, and are scratch proof and chip resistant, thus assuring customers, long years of crack-free and discolouration-free usage. |
