Lanka's Consul General visits Silicon Valley by Deeptha Leelarathna Silicon Valley, CA-Pradeep Gunawardana, Consul General and Gamini Premisiri, Trade Officer of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Los Angeles visited Silicon Valley as part of their Northern California trade mission to meet key business executives from leading high tech firms. Business leaders were interested in learning from the Consul General the status of the business climate in Sri Lanka. After the meeting, many were upbeat about the opportunities that were available to them. The Consul General and Premisiri also met the President of the California Chamber of Commerce, Allan Zareemberg. Zaremberg said "I am very enthusiastic about assisting the Consul General to promote bilateral trade between the US and Sri Lanka." The Consul General said, "This was a very beneficial meeting for us. We welcome the opportunity to improve the export trade of Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan delegation concluded their visit at a luncheon meeting sponsored by Opes Ventures, an international investment firm headed by Dinesh Perera. The Sri Lankan delegation met key executives from OTEC Development, GRG Engineering, VAR Capital Management, Eagle Logistics and other leading high tech firms. "Meeting key people who can help pave the path towards investment is very important to our country," Premisiri said. |
