by Bharatha Malawaraarachchi Hospital authorities yesterday warned the public to be vigilant about an organised group reported to be collecting funds claiming it was in aid of the quintuplets born at the Castle Street Maternity Hospital last week. "We have come to know that an organised group is engaged in collecting money for these five children. We urge the public not to give any aid to such culprits," Castle Hospital Director Dr. Wimal Karandagoda told the Daily News. He said he is not aware of any group specifically assigned to collect money for these infants ."If anyone wishes to help them, they could come to the hospital and extend their assistance," he said. Dr. Karandagoda said, those willing to help this family could send their contributions to the parents' Account at the National Savings Bank branch at Pilimathalawa. Meanwhile, Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva directed Health Development Fund officials to release Rs. 5,000 per month for five years with immediate effect. Chamila delivered the quintuplets through Caesarean surgery that lasted approximately one hour. The babies born prematurely were taken to the intensive care unit and placed in five incubators. "All five babies are in good condition," Dr. Karandagoda said. |
