The one-stop shop for queries about the UK, www.i-uk.com, is almost two years old. i-uk.com aims to act as a first point of call for all commonly asked questions about the UK. The site content includes: links to over 3,000 websites, features, key facts about the UK, a currency converter, e-postcards, quizzes and competitions. i-uk.com has recently scooped an award for the best partnership project at the UK Government Internet Forum awards, was given the top score - five stars - in a review in Web User, Britain's best selling internet magazine, the British High Commission said. The site now includes a Frequently Asked Questions section - http://www.i-uk.com/faq - which can answer hundreds of questions about the UK. Divided into 11 categories, the FAQs offer practical answers to the most diverse enquiries. They will also direct you to further sources of information; for example, an enquiry about visas is followed by a link to a site on where to look for work in the UK. The website is a joint initiative, led by the FCO in cooperation with Visit Britain, the British Council and UK Trade and Investment. It was launched in 2002 in response to research into overseas visitors' interests and enquires about the UK. As well as FAQs, the i-uk team publishes between 30-40 feature articles each month on all aspects of the UK. There are also permanent sections on business, education, life and culture and visas. |
