Asian Women's cricket chiefs meet The first phase of discussions towards the formation of the Asian Women's Cricket Federation will take place at Trans Asia Hotel on 28th and 29th September, 2004. The countries involved are India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka with Bangladesh joining later. The Indian delegates Shubanghi Kulkarni and Irfan Sait arrived yesterday and Pakistan's Shaiza Khan and Kiran Baluch are expected in the afternoon today. Sri Lanka will be represented by Gwen Herat and S.K. Ravindran. Up for discussions among others are where the A.W.C.H. Headquarters would be located. The possibility of playing The Asia Cup annually among its members. Also on the agenda is to agree upon who the nominee for the ICC Chair from the Asian Region. Herat told the Daily News that Sri Lanka would not stake claims for the ICC Chair in its first inaugural term but would prefer to watch how ICC will function towards Sri Lanka after the merger. |
