AAA elections on November 6

Fresh elections for the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka will be held at the AASL headquarters at Torrington Avenue on November 6.

Nominations would close on October 13. The present President Sunil Jayaweera, whose executive committee was controversially sacked by the Sports Minister day before the Athens Olympics last month, would not seek re-election.

However, Jayaweera and his team are expected to back a former National Olympic Committee and AASL President for the top seat of the local track and field governing body.
