The Colombo Branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness will conduct its annual Ratha Yatra from September 28 to October 03, reminiscing the visit of Lord Krishna to Vrindavan some 5,100 years ago to meet his playmates. This festival which is celebrated in a grand scale all over the world by ISKCON temples, is being conducted by ISKCON Sri Lanka for the sixth consecutive year. The chariot carrying the deities of Lord Jagannath, Balaram and Subadra will leave the temple at 188, New Chetty Street, Colombo 13, on September 28 around 7.00 a.m. It will proceed along Jampettah Street, sea Street, Main Street, York Street, Janadhipathi Mawatha, Galle Road, on its way. The chariot is expected to reach Rama Krishna Mission Hall around 2.00 p.m. The deities of Lord Jagannath, Balaram, and Subadra will be at Rama Krishna Mission Hall from September 28 to October 03 facilitating devotees to receive their blessings. There will be special poojas, religious discourse and other cultural programmes. An exhibition of paintings, pictures and books on Vedic Philosophy by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada will be held at Rama Krishna Mission Hall from September 29 to October 02 from 9 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. The chariot will make its way back to Sri Radha Krishna temple on October 03, leaving the Ramakrishna Mission Hall around 7.00 a.m. The chariot is expected to reach the temple at about 2 p.m. The International Society For Krishna Consciousness Sri Lanka branch celebrates the 6th annual festival as a peace festival, states the Temple President Mahakarta Das in a press release. |
