News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | Relief for politically victimised Samurdhi Ministry employees by Uditha Kumarasinghe The Government has decided to provide immediate relief measures to Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation Ministry employees who have been politically victimised during the former UNF Government. On the directive of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, the Ministry has reached this decision, Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation Deputy Minister Jagath Pushpakumara told the Daily News. Employees of the Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation Ministry and its affiliated institutions who have been politically victimised from December 5, 2001 upto April 2, 2004 can submit their appeals to the committee set up by the Ministry, the Deputy Minister said. Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi has appointed a special committee under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister to provide immediate relief to the employees who have been subjected to political victimisation. The Ministry requests all such employees to immediately submit their appeals to Committee to probe into political victimisation, Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation Ministry, Reid Avenue, Colombo 7. Once an appeal is made, the Ministry will take immediate measures to look into such cases to grant relief measures to employees who have been politically victimised during the period of the former Government, he added. |
