US XDS joins Premadasa Agencies:

Latest defence security products now in Lanka

By Lionel Yodhasinghe

An international leading edge US security product brand, Xtreme Defence Security (XDS) which provides exclusive products to many key institutions in the USA including the Pentagon has tied up with Premadasa Agencies (Pvt) Ltd (PAL) to promote XDS products in Sri Lanka.

This would be the beginning of a big change in the business sector including construction industry, architecture, banking, military and law enforcement institutions and other vital centres as it can provide better protection and reduce imminent danger to life and property, said PAL Marketing Consultant Aruna Bamunuwita.

We expect to first introduce a film and acrylic adhesive system which turns ordinary glasses into a super strength protective shield, strengthening the ordinary glass by 400 percent, said PAL Chairman Suranjith Premadasa.

The Glass strengthening and armouring system is an ideal solution for increased vehicle security and safety of passengers. We are in a position to offer a range of defensive products specifically for the use of armed forces and law enforcement officers, he said.

Another state of the art XDS product that would be introduced here shortly is the Seva Weapon Detection System, a complete next generation walk through weapon detection method that has been patented in the US, Korea, EU and China, he said.

This would apply to locations where permanent security personnel are not present such as financial institutions, entertainment centres, schools, government offices and public places. Under the second system, an errant person can enter a particular premise, escape the scene but his photograph, which is automatically stored in the system, would help investigation.

The Nasatka Barrier, a mobile barrier system - the other security product which could prevent any vehicle trying to force, enter at a target is also a requirement of the day. This has been the first to be approved and certified by the US Army, said Bamunuwita.

Today organised groups conceal deadly weapons in unsuspecting devices such as cellular phones, pocket organizers, keys, beverage cans and coins and try to access the targets. But Sevascan technology which possesses an on board database of electromagnetic spectrum of weapons can distinguish such sophisticated weapons wherever they hide in, in the body or the objects in which they are carrying, said Bamunuwita.

The bullet resistant glass can be combined in a low cost lighter weight protection system for transport vehicles, money in transit vehicles, boats, buildings, entry points, lockable revolving doors, holding cells and other law enforcement activities ballistic shields, private homes, protection high risk retail stores, banks, financial institutions and portable Armour Systems, he said.

Among some features of glass strengthening and armouring system includes: No breaking the glass, fire proof, melting points is 256 c, stops 500 kgs TNT at 100, absorbs Ultra violent radiation more than 98 percent, no peeling of the film, keeps out up to 80 percent of the heat from sunlight, sound proof, conforms to the US standard ANSI-Z97.1-84, ASTM D-1044, CPSC part 1 category ii, Class 'A' fire rating, Bamunuwita said.

The system is in use over 37 countries and has passed the US Government Class "C' bomb blast test, protects the US Senate US Supreme Court and other key Government buildings.
