Carmart launches new Peugeot 407

Carmart Limited who have been in the forefront of the Motor Trade for over half a century having continuously represented three world renowned franchises, Peugeot, Volkswagen and Mazda, launched the Peugeot 407, its new Saloon to the "middle to upper" segment at the Colombo Plaza on Sunday.

Managing Director Carmart, Senake Amerasinghe said that the 407 Saloon was the first member of the new 407 family responsible for carrying forward Peugeot's key values - Dynamism, Value for Money, Visual Appeal-and Innovation. "For decades the famous "4" series starting with the 401 has played a key part in Peugeot history over many decades, importing in to the country dependable and reliable engineering marvels, with state of the art technology, innovation and styling sophistication".

He said Carmart have been known for the launch and introduction of the latest models of its franchises, quite often having been the first in the region to launch a particular model. "Today is no exception, and once again Carmart launches the very latest in the Peugeot range, the Peugeot 407, which has been acclaimed as a car, rich in dynamism and allegiance with a clear commitment to innovation in a new style era".

Carmart is currently offering the 407 in 2 Petrol engines of 2.0 Ltr. 5 speed Manual developing 136 BHP and a 2.2 Ltr. Automatic with "Porsche Tiptronic system" control developing 160 BHP.

With the launch of the Peugeot 407, Joint Managing Director Carmart, Suraj Fernando said that the Company was now fully geared not only to market this new breed of sophisticated vehicle, but has also gone through a complete financial restructuring process and re-engineered itself to provide a high degree of customer and after sales service to meet the highly demanding needs of the new breed of customers by making available an adequate well stocked range of spare parts.

"A reorganised central workshop which will be established at Ratmalana and a team of courteous staff who are customer friendly, are all part of the 'new look' Carmart". Fernando also added that yet another special feature of this reorganisation will be the opening of "Peugeot Rapid Service" in Colombo. A fully integrated computer IT system has also been installed to provide the much needed back room facilitation, while the instant record and retrieval of service records and a planned preventive maintenance program for individual cars is also envisaged.

The 407 is designed to provide instantly perceptible driving pleasure and exemplary active safety under all circumstances, without in any way compromising driver and passenger comfort, its structure having been designed particularly in terms of dynamics and safety.

In terms of advanced passive safety, the 407 has up to nine air bags. The driver also benefits from the steering column air bag to protect the lower limbs and the doors lock automatically from a speed of 10 km/per hour.

Carmart will also be decorating its Peugeot showroom with Peugeot's 'Blue Box' concept.
