EPDP organizer shot dead

by Asanga Warnakulasuriya

Two suspected LTTE cadres had shot dead the Vadamaarachi EPDP organiser, M. Chandramohan (26) on Saturday night, Kayts Police said.

According to Police, the suspects had fired at Chandramohan around 7.00 pm while he was returning from a wedding held at Karanpan, Kayts on Saturday.

"Although the Police had provided him with two constables in addition to two army personnel for security, Chandramohan had requested the Police officers to stay outside stating that he was going to meet his fiancee, Kayts HQI Ranjith Kottachchi told the Daily News.

While on his way, the suspects had repeatedly fired at their target. "He was killed on the spot", HQI said.

Preliminary investigations had revealed that suspects had come on a bicycle and had fired around 6 to 7 shots before they fled, Police said.

Meanwhile Police also found the blood stains of a suspected LTTE cadre whom the Police believe was injured during the crossfire.

Kayts Police had informed about the killing to the SLMM for further inquiry.
