Trinco Court Complex opened

Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva yesterday opened the new Rs.70 million Court Complex in Trincomalee. Attorney General K.C. Kamalasabayson, High Court Judge Anton Balasingham and Judge M. Ganesaral were also present. The construction of the new court complex is part of an overall package of reform and improvement covering the administration of justice in the entire country.The new courts complex is a modern three storeyed building in the heart of Trincomalee adjoining the present court premises.It houses two Magistrates Courts, a District Court, a Labour Tribunal, a High Court and a Commercial High Court. The complex also houses separate offices, record rooms and reference rooms, a communication centre and a Legal Aid Office. Picture by S. Sasikmar

Buses, spare parts gone: Legal action mooted :

Probe into Rs.750 m fraud at CTB workshops

The Central Transport Board (CTB) will take legal action against the Werahera and Keppetipola workshop administration who had allegedly "disappeared" a large number of CTB buses, machinery and spare parts worth Rs 750 million during the previous regime.

Contrary to City Fathers' claims that Colombo is 'clean', residents say they find piles of garbage in certain areas. Residents question as to how many times garbage is cleared in the City by those entrusted with this task.
