Indian Navy Chief to hold talks concerning defence ties by Ranil Wijayapala Indian Navy Commander Admiral Arun Prakash arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday on a five day visit to have bilateral talks with the Sri Lankan Government and the Security Forces Chiefs concerning defence relations between the two countries. Chief of Defence Staff and Navy Commander Vice Admiral Daya Sandagiri received the Indian Navy Chief on his arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport last afternoon.
He is due to have separate meetings with President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse and Deputy Defence Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake this morning. The Indian Navy Chief will be accorded a guard of honour by the three Armed Forces at the Army, Navy and Air Force headquarters in Colombo today. Admiral Arun Prakash will also visit the Colombo harbour and the Naval base in Trincomalee during his stay in Sri Lanka. He will also visit Anuradhapura and Kandy and will leave Sri Lanka on September 16. |
