Thambutthegama Police will produce a Co-operative Manageress before the Thambuththegama Magistrate today (September 13),for her alleged involvement in the misuse of pawned jewellery by a Manageress of the Tahmbutthegama Rural Bank who is suspected to have fled the country. Since the Co-operative Manageress herself had been aware of this illegal transaction the police treated her as an accomplice and arrested her to be produced before the Thambutthegama Magistrate today, the Thambutthegama police said. According to the Thambutthegama police, the Manageress of the Thambutthegama Rural Bank is alleged to have disappeared after pawning the gold jewellery that had been pawned at her Rural Bank in a Private Bank. She is said to have collected Rs.1,917,050 by pawning these articles the value of which have not been assessed yet. The Thambutthegama Rural Bank is an affiliate of the Multi Purpose Co-operative Society of Rajangana. The Thambutthegama Rural Bank keeps cash in one safe and jewellery in another and a set of keys and duplicate are kept with the Bank Manageress and the other with the Divisional Manageress of the Co-operative Society, Police investigations have disclosed. According to police investigations, the Co-operative Manageress who was alleged to have known this secret that had been going on for some time had informed the Thambutthegama Police after she came to know that the Bank Manageress was about to leave the country. |
