At the 8th Session of the Provisional World Parliament held in Lucknow, India, 10th to 14th August, Dr. T.P. Amerasinghe, President World Constitution and Parliament Association said that the Creation of a Pax Americana, if permitted by the peoples of Earth, can only turn Planet Earth into a desert. "Never in history", Dr. Amarasinghe said "have so many people possessed so many weapons of mass destruction. Never in history have people faced a possible breakdown of its planetary ecosystem. The United Nations has not led to a world, where the many rights listed in its Declaration of Human Rights have been extended to the earth's citizens; but only to a denial of those rights for the majority. By the criterion of legitimacy, the UN has made itself illegitimate. It must be replaced immediately by a Democratic Federal World Government." Over 70 delegates representing 20 countries attended the sessions and over 400 citizens of Lucknow joined the proceedings. Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttara Pradesh spoke at the closing session. He expressed his willingness to support the World Constitution and Parliament Association in its campaign against American hegemony and for the creation of a Democratic Federal World Government legislated by a World Parliament under a Constitution for the Federation of Earth. "Today when discrimination and exploitation are increasing and distrust is threatening peace all over the world, the time has come to form a World Government. The very survival of the human race has come under grave danger. Only a World Government can save Humanity", Shri Yadav said. |
