CID takes over forged dollar notes case

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday took over investigations into the detection of printing of forged dollar notes by a teenage boy in the Kandy Police Division.

The suspected youth was arrested by a team of officers attached to the Kandy Crime Division while he was attempting to encash the forged dollar notes at a liquor shop in Kandy town.

The CID DIG yesterday deployed a special team to ascertain whether these forged dollar notes had been circulated in the country.

The following numbers are printed on the forged dollar notes CL 228115787. BCL 22875788. BCL 22815785. B and CL 228157.

Earlier investigations were conducted on the direction of Central Province DIG Nimal Mediwaka assisted by Senior SP Gunatilleke Bandara, SP G.B. Peramuna and Chief Inspector S.M. Samarakoon, OIC, Kandy Police Station.
