Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha condoles

The following message of condolence on the passing away of Venerable Kandegedara Sumanawansa Maha Nayaka Thera was issued by the Secretary General of Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha Ven. Katugoda Dhammawasa Anunayaka Thera, in concurrence with the Maha Sangha Sabha.

Ven. Kandegedara Sumanawansa Nayaka Thera had been a renowned, disciplined and an erudite Buddhist Monk. In the year 1992 he was appointed the President of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha.

While performing his duties in an honourable manner by did his best on behalf of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya whenever he attended conferences locally or in foreign countries as the then president of the Nikaya.

Because of his simplicity and knowledge he was able to resolve problems satisfactorily. Ven. Abiddajha Maharatta Agga Maha Panditha Balangoda Ananda Maithreya, Most Venerable Maha Nayaka Agga Maha Panditha Madihe Sri Pannaseeha, Agga Maha Panditha Ahungalle Wimmala Nandi Tissa, Panditha Dauldena Sri Gnneswara and other prominent Bhikkus were closely associated by Ven. Kandegedara Sumanawansa Nayaka Thera and he did his best in the performance of his duties faithfully towards the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya for its progress and his unforgettable services will be ever remembered.

All sectors of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya condole his passing away. May Ven. Kandegedara Sumanawansa Nayaka Thera attain the Supreme Bliss of Nibbana, the message said.
