LMD's Consulting correspondent wins Zonta Media award Consulting Correspondent for LMD, Man's Mission and Benchmark, Savithri Rodrigo won the Zonta Woman of Achievement Award for Media at a ceremony where Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapakse, presented the awards. She was among 18 high women achievers felicitated at the eighth Awards Ceremony conducted by the Zonta Club 1 of Colombo, a service organisation comprising business and professional women. Working for Media Services Limited, the Publishers of LMD and Man's Mission and Producers of the TV business program, Benchmark The Voice of Business for six years now, Rodrigo's experience in media spans 17 years. She is one of the few media persons in the country actively contributing to all three media, and is the dedicated interviewer for Benchmark's Spotlight, having also covered a number of issues and personalities for cover stories in LMD and its sister publication, Man's Mission. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators UK, she currently heads her own media concepts company. An SLBC Presidential Award winner in 1995, her roots are in television when she joined Rupavahini in 1987 as a news anchor, later graduating to a guest producer, narrator and moderator, before joining SLBC a few months later as a newsreader and program presenter. Over this period, she has interviewed over 1,000 personalities including Heads of State, the diplomatic corps, global and local corporate heads, anchored over 700 news broadcasts for state television and radio, written, scripted and produced over 100 corporate profiles for over 30 companies. She is also a Guest writer for other local and foreign publications, including Femina and Discover Sri Lanka and the moderating host for Impact, a social and current affairs Chat Show. |
