Proteas to be tested by virtual Lanka 'A' team A virtual Sri Lanka 'A' side led by Jehan Mubarak will play the touring South Africans in a one-day limited overs match at the De Soysa Stadium, Moratuwa today. The Sri Lanka Cricket President's XI comprises eight members who went on the recent Sri Lanka 'A' tour to England. The team also comprises Test and one-day discard Russel Arnold and promising Panadura SC off-spinner Dilruwan Perera. Fast bowler Dilhara Fernando who played against South Africa in the 3-day warm-up game at the CCC and performed well to win selection for next month's ICC Champions trophy tournament in England is also included in the eleven. Chairman of selectors Ashantha de Mel said that Arnold was being given an opportunity to try and put his act together and return to the national team. "We feel he still has a lot of cricket left in him. It is just that he is out of form and needs a big knock," said De Mel. He said that they had got a lot of good reports of Perera not only as a spinner but also as a useful batsman and they were keen to see how he performs against international opposition. This will be South Africa's only one-day practice match before they take on Sri Lanka in a series of five one-day internationals beginning at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Friday. South Africa lost the two-Test series 1-0 (1 drawn) on Sunday at the SSC to suffer their first-ever series defeat to Sri Lanka.
