"This is not only another political killing. It is a great loss, most severely condemned by the entire masses who received his services by way of literary innovations, translations and journalistic writing", the Premier said. Barbaric assassinations of this nature, at a time when negotiations are afoot to end the 20 years of ethnic violence, will serve no purpose other than destroying the country further. Such killings sabotage the efforts to build a harmonious society where all can co-exist by respecting the views of each other within an independent framework of political freedom, the message said. While deploring the demise of the late Bala Nadarajah under tragic circumstances at Wellawatta on August 16, I convey my deep condolences to his wife Jegatheeswari Aiyar and other members of the bereaved family and wish him eternal bliss." stated the Premier's message. |
