Man sentenced to death Kalutara High Court Judge Sarath Abrew sentenced a thirty-year-old youth to death, for killing a seventy-year-old woman while trying to remove her earrings. The accused, Mallavivaarachchige Sisira Prabath of Palatota-Kalutara pleaded guilty at the commencement of the hearing of the case. The Attorney General filed the plaint against the accused for killing H. B. Punchinona of Palatota by stabbing her on July 31, 1996. The police produced the knife which was used to stab the woman.
