The increased intake of students in IT and computer science into Universities of Moratuwa, Peradeniya, Kelaniya and Colombo will be supported with funds from the World Bank Improving the Relevance of Quality of University Education (IRQUE) project this year. The Education Ministry in a release said yesterday US$100,000 each will be allocated to the University of Colombo, School of Computing, and the University of Moratuwa. US$ 50,000 will be allocated to University of Kelaniya and US$30,000 to University of Peradeniya. This will help double the intake to Colombo (120 to 240), Moratuwa (100 to 200), Kelaniya (50 to 100) and in Peradeniya (40 to 60) students in 2004 and 70 students in 2005.
