Japanese social worker Yuka Sakuma who visited Voluntary Services Organisations in Kandy recently observed that Sri Lanka was a very fortunate country which could achieve prosperity through dedication to the cause. She wished Sri Lanka ushered in lasting peace by ending the war. Sakuma made these observations at the Gemiseva Foundation at Haragama in Kandy. Her visit was on the invitation of Gemiseva Foundation President Karunaratne Galkotuwa. She was very glad to note that children of Sri Lanka were learning hard and were showing a remarkable interest in education. Every child in Sri Lanka had his or her future plans. It was a very good hope for a developing country like Sri Lanka. She was accompained by Gemiseva Foundation President Karunaratne Galkotuwa. Sakuma also inspected some of the Community Development activities of the Foundation, the work on the Pre-School Project at Giddawa village and the dress making project at Haragama. Earlier she visited Dalada Maligawa Kandy and paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic. |
