US Embassy to reopen Monday The US Embassy, which was closed last Tuesday following an Anthrax scare, will reopen on Monday, the Embassy said in a statement. "Tests conducted on a white powder found in an envelope proved negative for any toxic substances," the Embassy said. The embassy said new appointments will be given to visa applicants as quickly as possible. New interview dates will be notified by fax. Normal operating hours will be maintained. The Embassy thanked the Sri Lankan Government, well wishers and the Medical Research Institute for their cooperation. The Embassy was closed after the unknown substance was received in the mail. The nearby USAID and US Information Service offices were also shut. It also turned off its air conditioning system and fans and ordered staff to leave. |
