Kalutara district UNP MP and former Lands Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has said that he as the then Minister of Lands had given the approval to release land to the President and her son responding to requests and there was no need to make a correction. Dr. Senaratne has stated this in reply to a letter sent by President's Secretary W.J.S. Karunaratne. "I have come to know that you have issued a letter to the media stating that the statement made by me to say that I have approved the releasing of land to President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and to her son Vimukthi Kumaratunga on their request was false. You have also requested a correction of that statement. As I have given the approval as the then Minister of Lands there is no need to make a correction," the letter addressed to the Secretary to the President said. |
