by Ranil Wijayapala The Security Forces and the LTTE with the facilitation of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission is due to meet today at Akkaraipattu to sort out differences relating to Security matters, SLMM Deputy Chief Hagrup Haukland told the Daily News yesterday. The meeting between the Security Forces and the LTTE in the East comes after nearly two months since the last meeting held on June 13 at Vavunativu Divisional Secretariat. "We are happy that two parties are meeting to sort out matters", Haukland added. Following the continued killings in the East between rival factions the LTTE withdrew from the meetings with the Security Forces in the East alleging that the Security Forces were harbouring breakaway LTTE Karuna faction. |
