Govt encourages LTTE peace building Following a decision taken by the Government of Sri Lanka, the Secretariat for Co-ordinating the Peace Process (SCOPP) has informed the LTTE Peace Secretariat, that the request for duty concessions on the purchase of four vehicles for the exclusive use of the LTTE Peace Secretariat has been approved. A SCOPP press release states this decision has been taken as a gesture to encourage the LTTE in its peace-building efforts and to strengthen the peace process as we jointly seek a permanent solution to the conflict within a united Sri Lanka. Similar concessions have been provided on a discretionary basis to several bodies engaged in peace related activities in the North and East. |
