Minister ready to sacrifice portfolio for CWC

Livestock and Estate Infrastructure Minister, C. B. Ratnayake said that he would give up his portfolio to CWC leader Arumugam Thondaman in the national interest in case the opportunity arises.

He said so in reply to a question posed by a mediaman at a conference held on upcountry development at the Kandy Kachcheri last week.

All parliamentarians of Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts participated at the meeting.

Minister Ratnayake said since the UPFA Government had failed to secure a parliamentary majority in case the CWC decides to support the government he would not hesitate to sacrifice his ministerial portfolio to its leader Arumugam Thondaman.

Posts, Telecommunication and Upcountry Development Minister, D. M. Jayaratne, Samurdhi Deputy Minister Rohana Dissanayake and several provincial council members spoke.
