Maharagama special correspondent Wehelle Piyathilake An islandwide programme has been drafted by Sri Lanka Samurdhi Authority to develop the inborn aesthetic abilities of the children of Samurdhi beneficiary families. A series of aesthetic competitions has been introduced to children of beneficiary families. The competitions are to be held in 5-9, 9-14 and 14-18 age groups. The competitions will be held in Grama Niladari Divisions, Provincial Secretariat Divisions, District Level and National Level. Singing, Music, Dancing, Announcing, Arts and children's stories are included in the list of competitions. The Grama Niladhari and Provincial Secretariat level competition has already been completed and the district level competitions are to be completed in September. The national level competitions are scheduled to be completed in November and the award presentation and the Samurdhi Children's Aesthetic Festival will be held at Colombo in the end of November. Along with this programme 'Samurdhi Kekulu' Children's Societies will be formed in all Grama Niladari divisions. |
