by Bharatha Malawaraarachchi The Health Services Trade Union Alliance(HSTUA) yesterday set an August 25 deadline for health authorities to resolve the salary anomalies of casual and substitute health employees or resort to trade union action to win their demands. An HSTUA spokesman said health authorities had not taken action to resolve the salary anomalies of the casual and substitute employees as promised at the discussion with the Prime Minister. "The Health authorities have failed to solve this issue even after a discussion the HSTUA had with the Prime Minister last month," HSTUA spokesman Saman Rathnapriya said adding that nearly thirteen months have passed with nothing happening" . Earlier, the alliance launched several trade union actions demanding the authorities to resolve the salary anomalies faced by the health employees under provincial councils. They urged the authorities to implement circular 2/1/2004 seeking to resolve salary anomalies in Provincial Councils too. Rathnapriya urged the authorities to take swift measures to resolve the salary anomalies faced by these two categories ."We urge the health authorities to implement the necessary circular to pay the due salaries to the casual and substitute employees." he added. |
