LTTE woman suspect further remanded by Sarath Malalasekera Sathyaleela Selvakumar, 29 of Jaffna, the woman accomplice of the LTTE woman suicide bomber who committed suicide at the Kollupitiya Police station, was yesterday further remanded till August 18 by Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Sarath C. Karunaratne. Investigations revealed that the LTTE had selected the woman suspect now in custody to accompany the suicide bomber as she had access to EPDP leader and Minister Douglas Devananda's office. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) earlier took over the investigations into the bomb attack at the Kollupitiya Police station on July 7 where four police personnel and the LTTE suicide bomber were killed. The CID investigating on IGP Indra de Silva's direction had bared that the LTTE woman suspect had been an ex-employee of Devananda. The four police personnel killed were Inspector M.H.D. Ekanayake, Sergeant Artygala and two Reserve Police Constables Liyanage and Chandra Jayantha. Investigations also revealed that the LTTE woman suicide bomber had been assigned to assassinate Devananda. The CID special team assigned by the CID DIG to investigate questioned the woman accomplice at the Remand prison. The woman accomplice was arrested by the Special Task Force immediately after the incident. Investigators also found that the woman suicide bomber's national identity card was forged. |
