New plan for recruiting Principals The Ministry of Education is preparing a new plan to recruit principals to National Schools in the future, states a Education Ministry press release. A special marking scheme is being prepared where, credit will be given to leadership and managerial capabilities, creativity and innovative capacity, good track record of discipline and character in addition to conventional requirements such as examination records. Applications will be called from all those eligible. i.e., those from Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service and Sri Lanka Principals Service, and the selection will be done in the most just and transparent manner. Also, hereafter, the selection of principals to schools will be done, at least 3 months before the incumbent retires, so that no school will be left without a head, once the principal retires. This scheme will operate under the direct supervision of the Secretary to Ministry. |
