Bodyguard policeman also missing: Powerful UNP politico alleged to have raped daughter, kidnapped her father There was high drama at the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) in Colombo when a father who was making a complaint of alleged statutory rape against a well-known UNP Provincial Councillor suddenly received a telephone call during the inquiry saying: "If you don't get out and run, I will kill you and your family." According to NCPA sources, the young politician, whose brother is the owner of the chief of a leading radio station had been having sex with the elder sister of the child, while simultaneously raping her. This situation had been going on for quite sometime and finally the father who could not bear this any longer had decided to complain to the NCPA. While the inquiry was in progress, the child's father had allegedly received the death threat over the telephone. At this point of time, he had been assigned to go to the Kollupitiya Police Station accompanied by a Police Constable for his protection. The unusual situation took a new turn when on receiving the call, the father bolted in fear accompanied by the policeman, who according to a senior NCPA official is also missing. The official said that the politician against whom the complaint was made had not turned up for the inquiry and his whereabouts are not known. The Kollupitiya Police meanwhile has launched a search for the father and constable who are alleged to have been kidnapped along with the victim child. The politician is well-known to be carrying weapons and is very wealthy with powerful political backing. NCPA sources said. The official mentioned the names of very senior UNPer, who are alleged to be assisting the suspect. |
