commendation to PSC A large number of Education Ministry officers have been subjected to various injustices and victimisations due to political reasons since 1977. In a paper presented to the Cabinet by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga as the Education Minister last month, approval was sought to recommend to the Public Service Commission (PSC), that officers subjected to victimisation be absorbed into the Sri Lanka Education administrative Service (SLEAS) in accordance with a Supreme Court decision made in this regards, an Education Ministry release said yesterday. This decision was made in connection to the same matter placed before the Cabinet in 2001 but was not implemented. The Education Ministry has already made this recommendation to the PSC. Help save his life G. A. Seneviratne Alwis of Massalagoda, Bentota is suffering from an acute heart ailment. Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Rajeeva Pieris has recommended an urgent Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery to save his life. The surgery to be performed at the Apollo Hospital is estimated to cost Rs. 325,000. Mr. Alwis who is a retired Grama Seva Niladari, says his family is unable to foot this bill due to their financial plight. He requests philanthropists and the public to assist his cause by sending whatever financial contributions possible to help expedite the surgery. All contributions should be remitted to Savings Account No. 1-012259-6 at the Bank of Ceylon, Bentota branch. |
