Top tea prices From S. M. Jiffrey Abdeen, Kandy South Correspondent Aislaby Group, Bandarawela sold an invoice of Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) for the top price of Rs. 475 per kilogramme to top the prices for Ex-Estates at the tea auctions held last week. With the Uva quality season now in progress the prices of tea produced in the Uva region customarily fetch good prices. Kirkoswald Group from Bogowantalawa too topped the Rs. 400 mark by selling a line of Pekoe for Rs. 400 through their brokers Forbes and Walkers Limited. The other top prices for various regions at this auctions were: Western Medium Grown: BOP Rs. 335 Kenil worth Group, Ginigathena, BOPF Rs. 228 Vellai Oya Group, Pekoe Rs. 255 Pinnawela Group. Western High Grown: BOP Rs. 265 Loinorn Group, BOPF Rs. 270 Glentilt Group, Pekoe Rs. 400 Kirkoswald Group. Nuwara Eliya Tea: BOP Rs. 214 Mahagastota Mark - Pedro Group, BOPF Rs. 200 and Pekoe Rs. 162 Mahagastota Estate (Both under Pedro Group). Udapussellawa Tea: BOP Rs. 180, BOPF Rs. 185 both by Luckyland Group, Pekoe Rs. 228 Eskdale Estate. Uva Tea: BOP Rs. 475 Aislaby Estate, BOPF Rs. 320 Uva Highlands Estate, Pekoe Rs. 385 Dickwella Estate. Unorthodox Tea:Western High Grown: PF 1 Rs. 210 Wanarajah Group, BP 1 Rs. 161 Florence Estate. BPS Rs. 166 Florence Estate. Uva High: PF 1 Poonagalla Estate Rs. 194, BP 1 Rs. 170 and BPS Rs. 190 also by Poonagalla Estate. Medium Grown: BOP Rs. 191 Delta Group, BP 1 Rs. 158 Rothschild Group, BPS Rs. 160 Alakolla Group.
