President congratulates Marvan and his team

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga yesterday sent her good wishes to the Sri Lankan cricketers on their success at the Asia Cup limited-over tournament. The President in her letter to Marvan Atapattu said:

"Please convey my sincere congratulations to the members of your team for their brilliant performance at the Asia Cup final on Sunday. Your squad maintained a very high level of consistency right through the tournament and deserves to be Asian champions.

"Your astute captaincy must also be commended and I wish you and your team well in the upcoming home series against South Africa."
