Crowds throng Kandy The tourist trade and hotels in the hill capital are having a boom time as all hotels within Kandy city and its outskirts have been fully booked. Local and foreign tourists have booked hotels in advance to witness Asia's most grandest pageant - the Kandy Esala Maha Perahera. A leading travel agent said business was flourishing. He said there has been a big rush for hotel bookings and for tourist transport. He said they were finding it difficult to cope with business. Help save her life Mrs. Y. S. Kalyani of Samansurigama, Manchanayake Mawatha, Deraniyagala is suffering from an acute lung ailment. Consultant Thoracic Surgeon Dr. S. Bal has recommended an urgent operation, 'Resection Anastomosis of Trachea after Sternotomy,' to save her life. The surgery to be performed at the Apollo Hospital is estimated to cost Rs. 200,000. Mrs. Kalyani says her husband is a labourer attached to a Colombo firm and as such her family unable to foot this bill due to their financial plight. She requests philanthropists and the general public to assist her cause by sending whatever financial contributions possible to help expedite the surgery.
